The Session: Durability Engineering

Welcome to Basecamp. This is where we build the foundation for every hike you’ll take in the future. We are starting with the essentials: establishing a connection between your brain and your muscles so you can move efficiently. This is how you build the quads and hamstrings necessary to power up the mountain and control your descent safely.

The Workout:

  • The “Big Three”: Mastering the Squat, Hinge, and Lunge patterns—the primary vocabulary of the trail.
  • Cardio Capacity: Timed intervals to boost your stamina and recovery rate.
  • Unilateral Strength: Working one side at a time to balance your back, glutes, and calves (fixing the imbalances that cause injury).
  • Flexibility: 3 key stretches to open tight hip flexors (essential for uphill travel).
